IB-Connections

This website has been titled ‘An International Mind’ (AIM for short). This reflects both the international nature of the English subject, but also one of the core values of the IB; international mindedness.

International mindedness refers to a set of attitudes, understandings and skills that help you prepare for the interconnected world of the 21st century. These are skills and understandings that form the foundation of English as a subject in school; global engagement, intercultural understanding and multilingualism (IBOCross-Programme Resources – Home – IB Programme Resources, 2020).

Through working from the perspective of international mindedness, you will develop a sense of who you are in a global context, gain insight into different cultures through working with factual texts as well as fiction, and you will develop your language skills and become increasingly multi-lingual. Most of you will be fluent in at least two languages, English and Norwegian, and perhaps you are fluent in other languages as well. Through a global approach to English you will develop your engagement in global issues, to become an active citizen who seeks to understand the perspectives of others and positively impact the world.
